Biggest Marathons

Size here means finishers: runners who crossed the line in the latest year with published results, read from each race's results. More runners register than start, and more start than finish, so a race's own count of its field can be bigger than the number shown here.

Only the marathon is counted, not the half marathon, 10K or 5K run on the same weekend. For every distance, see the 100 largest races in the U.S., ranked by a whole race weekend's finishers. For one marathon in each state, see every state's biggest marathon.

Reported finisher counts from the race results on file (race_year_stats).

Open Biggest Marathons in the race finder to search it by race or place, narrow it to one state, sort it, or save all 40 races to your plan. Each race has its own page with its next date, distances, registration and course details.
