About the U.S. Majors

Boston, Chicago and New York are the three U.S. races among the World Marathon Majors, and three of the original six behind the Six Star medal, with Tokyo, London and Berlin.

Boston is run in April on a point-to-point course from Hopkinton into the city, and most of its field gets in with a qualifying time. Chicago is run in October on a flat course through the city's neighborhoods. New York is run in early November across all five boroughs, finishing in Central Park.

All three fill their fields months before race day, through qualifying times, drawings, charity places and tour operators. Each Major's own page lists its entry routes and dates, read from the race's own website.
