The New York City Marathon is a point-to-point across five boroughs, starting on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge and finishing in Central Park. The 2027 race is Sunday, November 7. Drawing dates are not posted yet. Charity is the open path. The status is in lottery races: when each draw opens and closes.
What runners like
Staten Island is the wait. Brooklyn is the noise, especially Fourth Avenue. The Queensboro Bridge is quiet, uphill, and honest. First Avenue is the roar that follows. The Bronx is brief. The last miles in Central Park are slower than the watch expects. Early November can be ideal or raw. Pack a throwaway layer for the bridge.
Where to stay
Midtown near the park, or the Upper West Side, makes the finish walkable. The start is a bus from official transport, not a subway hop. Read the wave instructions twice. More New York races are on the New York race calendar.
Food worth the stop
Pizza on Friday, not a slice tour on Saturday. Bagels are the Saturday breakfast. Race-morning food should already be in the bag. The start village is a wait, not a cafe.
For the person not racing
Fourth Avenue is the first real viewing. First Avenue is the second, if they can get there. Pick two spots, not five. The subway is the transport. Send the corner names before Saturday night.
